Predictors to health promoting behaviors among patients with myasthenia gravis: health belief model approach

Myasthenia Gravis is a rare, chronic, acquired autoimmune neuromuscular disorder causing weakness in skeletal muscles. Patients with face many bio-psychosocial consequences that may require dramatic changes their lives. The aim of this study was to determine predictors health promoting behaviors among patients using Health Belief Model. A predictive correlation research design utilized fulfill the study. Consecutive sample convenience consisting 57 adult male and female admitted for 21 months at one Cairo University Hospitals, Egypt constituted sample. Data collected following tools:(a) Demographic Medical Background Form, (b) Glasgow Coma Scale conscious level potential participants, (c) Adapted Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II tool assess health-promoting participants (d) Model disease variables were supposedly act as participants. Results showed majority (78.90%), married (66.70%), educated (96.50%) not working (91.20%), mean age 33.96 ±9.81.
